MEAMCON is the first and currently only conference and exposition aimed directly at Community and Association Managers in the Middle East. Having held the inaugural conference in 2011 under the aegis of the Dubai Real Estate Institute and the US-based Community Associations Institute (CAI) and supported by the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA), MEAMCON is back this year after a very successful 2016 edition.

Thomas M. Skiba is the Chief Executive Officer of Community Association Institute's national office in Alexandria, Virginia. As CEO, he is responsible for providing services to CAI's more than 32,000 members including homeowners, community association volunteer leaders, professional community managers and industry partners. Through educational programs, publications and other activities, CAI works to build communities that operate efficiently and effectively and meet the needs of all their residents. In recent years, he led CAI through a comprehensive transformation of its governance, membership structure, branding and technology, designed to make the organization more responsive to member needs and more flexible in a rapidly changing business environment. Prior to joining CAI, he spent almost seventeen years with KPMG Consulting. While at KPMG, he provided business advisory services to a wide variety of not-for-profit, higher education, and government organizations, including the American Cancer Society, Smithsonian Institution, Kennedy Center, American Red Cross, Public Broadcasting Service and National Geographic Society. Tom received his BS and MBA degrees from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. He currently resides in Alexandria with his wife Carol and son Matt.

Stephen Quinn

Director - Project & Building Consultancy of Land Sterling

Stephen worked with Local Government in Scotland for 26 years as a Building Standards Surveyor and was latterly an Area Team Leader and was responsible for ensuring buildings were designed and constructed in accordance with appropriate legislation and codes. Stephen has been with Land Sterling since April 2014 and was responsible for establishing and managing the Building Surveying Section, has developed and grown both the team and services and has built up an established client base throughout MENA and including the likes of: Emaar, Aldar, Kidmah, Farnek, Damac and numerous others. The Building Surveying Team consists of 14 professionally qualified members offering a range of services for all types of properties such as: Building Audits, Reserve Fund Studies/Life Cycle Analysis, Reinstatement Valuations, Condition Surveys/Snagging Inspections, Defects Analysis, Fire Safety Assessments, Health and Safety Assessments, Fit Out Management and bespoke services designed to suit clients specific requirements. Pepe Gutierrez has been a Property Manager from 1983 in Spain and founder of three companies MEGAFINCAS, PHCONSULTAS, and ADMINISTRAPOLIS PERU. He is a Professor of Property Management in Alicante and Burgos University and a CPM® - Instructor Faculty of US-based IREM. Pepe has spoken on Property Management in the US, Russia, China, Japan, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, Italy, Portugal.

Michael Johnson is CEO of FCS Community Management, Utah’s original AAMC – Accredited Association Management Company. Michael is a highly rated member of CAI’s volunteer national faculty and in Utah volunteers his time as Chair of the CAI Legislative Action Committee (LAC). More Utah association board members have completed the Board Leadership Development Workshop under his instruction, than any other instructor. Michael previously has served on CAI’s national Association of Professional Community Managers board, Government & Public Affairs Committee and CEO-MC Committee; as well as past-president of the Utah CAI Chapter. Michael has earned his Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA), Association Management Specialist (AMS) and Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM) designations. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Brigham Young University. Michael loves our industry and currently supervises 65 employees (including five PCAM’s) managing over 250 (27,000 units) of Utah’s best community associations. He is married to a childhood friend, Amy, and they are the proud parents of five children.

Jeff Gilmour

Kirk Watilo

Owners Association Director - Khidmah LLC

An organization for community association management professionals called Community Association Institute (CAI) provides education to managers, owners, business partners and other stakeholders in the Owners Association industry. Kirk holds many designations from CAI and has been teaching courses for over 20 years. He received the instructor of the year from CAI which was one of the reasons he was invited to teach courses for the Dubai Real Estate (DREI) Institute a few years back. Kirk is on the DREI faculty and teaches many courses dealing with association management, including finance, communications, governance, developer transition, and best practices. Kirk has been a part of management teams for communities with budgets exceeding 85,000,000 USD with thousands of homes and acres. He is a subject matter expert in high rise management. Prior to joining Khidmah, he was vice president of a management firm in Southern California responsible for large scale communities and high rises. Kirk's UAE experience includes managing MotorCity in Dubai and working with a large management firm running their Property Management section. One major focus for Kirk is to provide leadership and advice to Owners Association elected Boards as the communities begin their self-governance journey, transitioning from developer control.Kirk has been providing this type of advice for over 30 years.
